Nathan Smith
Glasgow, Scotland
grpahicdeisgn.com @nathandavidsmith
Nathan is an artist and critical technologist based in Glasgow, Scotland. His work challenges emerging technologies, examining their impacts and exploring critiques of the techno-capitalist structures which support them. Through approachable and experimental artworks, Nathan's practice questions the orthodoxy of the tech world and encourages a disenfranchised audience to wrestle for agency: not by simplifying technology, nor by rejecting it, but by peeling back the layers to reveal the machinery within.
After plumbing the depths of creative industries for several years, Nathan completed an MA at the Royal College of Art in 2024 and returned to Scotland, establishing experimental art studio and gallery Grpahic Deisgn in Glasgow. This renewed a focus on human-machine and human-human interaction mediated by technologies which intervene in communication, education and social and cultural relationships.
